Question:

Why do dentists ask questions when they are working on your oral problems

I assume the purpose is to relax the patient and keep his mind away from the procedure[i know it keeps my mind away from it] and to enable the dentist to finish his work more quickly.

Do they really expect a verbal response with their tools in your mouth or physical response like waving your hand in confirmation or denial.

Complex answers are a little difficult to answer by waving your hands if you are uneducated in the hand language.

  1. Because dentists are mean!!!

  2. to make you forget the pain

  3. ha ha, some dentists i have worked with do that and the patient looks at me like "how can i answer???!!!"

i personally think its stupid to ask a patient a question when they cant really answer!

they should at least have the courtesy to ask all questions before the procedure or to take out instruments/hands so the patient can give them a proper answer.

However i dont think they even realise they do it until you dont answer lol. its just normal for them to ask alot of questions

  4. because he wants to ease his tension doing work by listening to your AAA RR UUU OOO  QQQQ  KKKK

  5. they like makeing u sound like a r****d trying to answer them i just close my eyes an blare my ipod lol

  6. No ,

  7. They're very lonely, although they can talk to you, you can't talk to them.  Might as well be talking to themselves, but I suppose talking to somebody (even if they can hardly respond) keeps them sane...

  8. They're just being friendly.

  9. I am glad my dentist is hot.

  10. yes its to keep you relaxed (distract you from the pain)

and these dentists are crazy! they understand everything. they're so used to listening to people go "wah awah wa ah awwaaa" they actually get what your saying.

  11. To divert your mind so that u do not notice the pain

  12. LOL… I too have experienced this on numerous occasions. I guess they enjoy being in control of a conversation knowing there’s little chance of rebuttal.
