Why do different metals hold more heat than others?

i am doing a science project on that and can t find it anywhere please help me. thx in advance :D

  1. You didn't look very hard.  The answer is that different metals don't hold different amounts of heat when viewed on a heat content per atom basis, but different metals do have different atomic weights.  Find a table of specific heats of metals, here's one example:

    Now, multiply each specific heat by the atomic weight of each metal.  What you will find is that the numbers come out nearly the same.  Now the question becomes why when turned into a heat capacity per mole of substance are they all the same?
