  2. Our ancestors probably had more hair than us, much like a modern day chimpanzee. As we lost most of the hair, pigment cells in our skin began to secrete pigments to protect us from the sun. Those people who live in the tropic tend to have darker skin than those who live in the north.

  3. Protection from the sun northern races have light colored skin because sun exposure is not as intense
