  1. It is not only different types of engine but also different designs including exhaust systems such as catalytic converters and filters.  Some of the factors are the fuel itself, the fuel air mix, the temperatures and pressures of combustion, the turbulence and the residence time in the combustion zone.

  2. what goes in

    x the process

    = what comes out

change the input or the process & the output must change, basic science

eg input  electrons produce rotating electromagnetic field, output loads of continuous rotating torque.

or input refined fossil fuel, process explosion, output noise heat, unburnt hydrocarbon particulates, sulphur & nitrogen compounds, water, & some discrete vertical movement of a piston.

Hence electric traction motors are far more efficient and powerful than infernal combustion, and the first car to exceed 100mph was electric; also see tesla www.teslamotors.com 0-60mph in 4 second and 250 miles per charge

  3. well...

different emmisions chemically is possible only by the type of fuel the engine runs of..

    (i)petrol

    (ii)diesel

    (iii)gas

    (iv)and many more

naturally...they are different and their emmisions out to be different...

when talking about the physical reason...

due to improper maintenece...the burning of the fuel is not proer so different engince have different combustion...chemicaly same..but the strength different

    hence what u give..i waht u get...

    fuel in...emission out...

so ur question should be different fuel different emmison..this is ur answer too
