  1. Because they are the boss. A boss engage people to manage and do work for them, because they do not know or understand the things their mangers are doing. So they ask questions. They are the boss and have the rights to do so.

  2. Because they don't know whats going on or how things work!

  3. People who question things and have a good grasp of detail tend to have better jobs and tend to be in positions that lead,- that is why so many people like that are directors.

If a director never asked things, or wanted to improve or find new ways of doing things how effective do you think he/she would be?

Most working people put their head down, do the job their told to do and are happy to go home at the end of the day with no further responsibility.

If you're a director, you will live and breathe the business and hence be more interested in finding out new things.

If you ask questions about everything you will understand everything much better.
