  1. It sounds better because they can digitally enhance it and they can edit and put together several takes. That way they won't get out of breath or make mistakes. In turn, the audience won't have to cringe~

  2. 1. Because it is a lot cheaper to just use a recording then to have them sing it in person due to the sound and stuff like that.

    2. In most music videos and movies..the stars are moving around and focusing on their acting.. this can make them loose their breath and mess up. It's safer to have a recording so they have a strong sound as well as the performance.

    3. Sometimes..the stars just don't sound good without all the reverb and layover they do in the studio. Sad, but true.

Go see a show on Broadway =) if you want a good live performance

  3. It's called lip "sync" for synchronizing - meaning matching the lip movements ot the recorded voice.  You received some really good answers.  Actually, I t used to be fairly common to have someone else do the singing for an actor.  It started back in the 30's with the first "talkies" or movies with voices. (Before that, you sae sign cards with simple sentences as part of the film, or displayed beside the film screen.)  Um - it's not always the directors forcing the actors.

Milli Vanilli was a band that ruined itself by lipsyncing and not admitting someone else sang their songs.  And back in my time, the Monkees did the same thing.  But both of those groups were known primarily as singers, and this occurred long after the public became aware of lipsyncing and began looking for it.

  4. It is cheaper to prerecord the orchestra and the singers.
