  1. No I don't support PETA. I used to long time ago as a teen but never again.

Would you support a group that:

    -Lies

    - Harasses children to and from school

    -Endorses arsonists and other criminals

-Advocates the use of violence against institutions and

      individualss

-Uses donated and membership funds to support criminals

      and criminal acts

    - is headed  by delusional hypocrites

-Exploits chidren to achieve its agenda

No I am not describing an international terrorist group. I am listing PETAs activities for the last 15 years at least. Would you support such a group? Probably if you are inclined to do any of the above.

  2. As a dog owner and lover, I can't support an organization that opposes animals for any purpose at all, including pets. And as a scientist, I can't support a organization that would essentially close down medical and biological research. Nor do I want to bring an end to seeing-eye and service dogs, aquariums and zoos.

There's more, but I think the above gives the general idea.

  3. I'm torn. On one hand, they have amazing resources. I love PETA2's Accidentally Vegan list. On the other, I disagree with their publicity stunts. It's sexist, immature, and showy. Not my idea of successful activism. :/

  4. I'm an animal lover, therefore, I do *not* support PETA.

They are an extremist group. And they disgust me.

They say they have the best interest of the animals in mind, but I don't believe it. Although I have no proof of it, I would suspect that many of their "under-cover videos" are even staged, which is sad.

    PETA kills animals: http://www.petakillsanimals.com/

They also have the goal of making all domestic animals extinct. They don't want people to have pets. Or service dogs. Etc.

    Some suggested reading about PETA:

I also could never NEVER support a group that intentionally inflicts psychological damage to children and tries to get to the parents by USING the children and attempting to make the children fearful of their own parents. They have handed out the following comics to children:

You Mommy Kills Animals - http://www.furisdead.com/feat-momfur.asp

Your Daddy Kills Animals - http://www.fishinghurts.com/feat-newcomi...

I don't have all the information handy, but at one point a year or so ago, I decided to read through the PETA site. What I found was a wealth of mis-information and information skewed to support their "cause".

Here's a video that shows their hypocrisies: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9ijLulwU...

(Disclaimer: the guys narrating the video use some strong language, if that offends you, don't want it.)

In short, they are a destructive group that go about things completely the wrong way. They "protest" by interfering with others in ways that should not be done.

    * They disrupted VS fashion show a couple years ago: http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2002/11/1...

    * Although they have discontinued the practice, they used to attack people with spray-paint that were wearing fur coats. (Their website now says "if you have a fur coat, donate it to a homeless person.")

(There are numerous other examples, you can do a search on the internet and find them.)

I love animals. I love my pets. Which is why I believe in animal WELFARE, not animal rights.

    http://www.animalwelfarecouncil.com/html...

Animal welfare = treat animals humanely.

Animal rights = extinction of domestic animals.

    ADD:

PETA themselves may not blow up things, but they donate money to ALF. And ALF blows up things.  In 1 year they gave ~$70,000 to ALF member Rodney Coronado and his family to cover legal fees and other expenses.

http://www.animalscam.com/references/pet... (Note: It says "loan", but Ray Coronado has said in interviews that it wasn't a loan, they never paid it back and was given to them as a gift.)

    .

  5. I don't really support PETA because they are crazy! I mean I want to help animals and stop cruelty, but I can do it my own way without PETA.

  6. I don't agree with every single thing PETA has said or done in its 28-year history. Overall, PETA's done an incredible job of furthering the animal rights cause through public education, cruelty investigations, animal rescue, celebrity involvement, and protest campaigns.

*Polo Ralph Lauren, Ann Taylor, Calvin Klein, Wet Seal, Forever 21, and Nike and Cole.... just a few of the companies that stopped selling fur thanks to PETA's influence

*Abercrombie & Fitch, H&M, New Look, and Timberland... just a few of the companies that stopped buying cruelly obtained Australian wool, thanks to PETA

*POM, Welch's, Coca Cola, and PepsiCo.... just a few of the companies that have stopped testing on animals thanks to PETA

*MasterCard, Visa, Harris Teeter, Lukoil, and Sears, Roebuck and Co.... just a few of the companies that have stopped supporting cruel animal circuses thanks to PETA

*Burger King, Wendy's, and KFC Canada... just a few of the fast food companies that have improved their animal welfare policies thanks to PETA

    * 6,361... the number of animals PETA spayed or neutered in 2007, for free or at reduced cost

Some people take issue with PETA's tactics. The reality is, provocative and controversial campaigns often make the difference between keeping depressing subjects invisible and exposing them to the public.

  7. PETA's leadership  *admits* to having supported terrorists, arsonists, and other criminals - many tens of thousands of dollars have gone to defend and / or support those people and groups.

PETA's leadership openly *advocated,* in a public forum, arson and bombing.

PETA's leadership has had advanced knowledge of planned felonies, and arranged to receive items obtained in those felonies - That's accessory before the fact to felonious crimes.

PETA's leadership's agenda has been clearly stated again and again and again - to end ALL human-animal interaction, including pet ownership, zoos, conservation/restoration efforts, agriculture, and research, just to name a few. Ingrid Newkirk didn't turn her nose up at painkillers when she broke her wrist. Those pain killers were tested on animals - Testing that she says is wrong. Where is her integrity? She has none.

PETA stands for nothing other than than pushing their radical, fuzzy-minded, ethically bankrupt, emotional tantrum.

  8. I HATE PETA so baaad! They are hypocrites. And waaay to much of extremists. They are insane, and omg I just HATE peta and Ingrid Newkirk, that ****** is so g*y. sorry...I just hate PETA so much.

  9. I can't support any extremest group - they go way overboard and put vegetarians and vegans in a bad light. I personally don't appreciate being compared or accused of being a member when I skip the meat course. It is a personal choice not a "political calling".

  10. Too extreme. And I shouldn't be forced to look at their anti-pate posters just because I'm passing a restaurant that serves it. Ruins my week. Their mailings nauseate me and THEY'RE PREACHING TO THE CHORUS!!!

  11. Although they were the first group to stick their neck's over the chopping block, they are not my favorite organization. They have LOTS of money and do lots of good in education and demonstrations, but their track record of dealing with real , live animals is not so good. No direct intervention usually, just demos and pamphlets and throw cash at it. There are hundreds of thousands of dogs who live chained to a doghouse 365 days a year on a 4' chain with no water, food or shelter (forget the vet!) and they do nothing to influence legislation or for cripes sake bring the dog some food! They want to be animal champions, but they don't want to get dirty.

  12. people eating tasty animals or the extreamist group of the same name.

  13. I like PETA because it has greatly helped me with facts, knowledge, vegan recipes, support and it is a great resource center.  You can find any info on veganism and animal exploitation on their website.  This includes products and companies that test on animals.  It's a great one.

  14. ohh this is always a hard queston for me! peta's movies are what made me a vegetarian, but i do not like their campeigns. i mean really, a bunch of vegetarians/vegans running around naked does not make us look good at all. i think peta has made a lot of people vegetarian through their videos, but have also scared a lot of people away! so, i think that i do not support them, but i do think that they have changed a lot of people with their videos. thy build and tear down vegetarians all at the same time! >: l

    EDIT: i agree with kirbyish!

  15. I support PETA

  16. I support the idea of people for the ethical treatment of animals, but the organization PETA I do not fully support. They do have great resources and have helped some animals and people become veg*an, but seemed to have done more harm for the animal rights movement and veganism. And they seem to waste all the money that give in, offering to pay Aretha Franklin  to stop wearing fur, offering to pay to invent intro meat, paying for nude worthy *vegetarian* commercials. Their money and time should be better spent and it's not, instead they seem to making skeptical of veganism and animal rights. They do some good, but more bad. peta2 however is different. There does need to be more organizations for animal rights and veganism,  not like PETA.

  17. I do NOT support PETA, for several reasons...

    1. They're welfarist/utilitarian.  I'm an abolitionist.  I don't agree with their philosophy.  (Why they would claim victory over KFC by demanding they kill chickens "nicely" is beyond me.)

    2. They're donation-funded professional activists. (IE: funding they receive from membership is paying the salaries of people who are not effectively advancing the movement.)

    3. They spend all their money on bullsh*t campaigns and shock-propaganda rather than EDUCATING people about the truth of the animal agri industry and the benefits of a plant-based diet and lobbying for healthy public policy which would truly help the cause.
