  1. I've always been told that it's about dignity and respect. What would you think if the doctor didn't leave the room?

  2. maybe because seeing you change makes them get all hyped up yo.

  3. I don't know hun. LOL there just weird like that. I guess to make you feel respected. I love ya gal feel better soon. Know you are in my thoughts and prayers. Take care sweetie xx Sugar bug

  4. I feel more comfortable with them leaving and when they have an assistant in room. Don't want the doctor to get out of line with their words against mine!

  5. Its out of respect of privacy, but also, wouldn't you feel awkward standing next to someone changing (trying to avoid eye contact) and waiting for them to hurry and undress so you could examen them? In some situations it gives the patient a moment to use the restroom and it would be really uncomfortable to feel like the doctor was standing there rushing you.

  6. Out of respect for the patient. Also so you can't charge them with sexual harrassment. If you noticed lately, there is a nurse present during most exams.

  7. this puzzles me everytime.

  8. Because it's a form of respect and manners.

  9. To give you privacy and make you feel more comfortable. When you are unconscious, they don't have to worry about making you feel more uncomfortable. = )

  10. Some people will feel a bit more comfortable changing out of the sight of others. ** shrugs **

  11. i had to do that the other day and i was glad cause i was not wearing the nicest undies so when he lef the room i got to roll them up in my skirt and put em on a chair much better lol

  12. It must be some kind of protocol they are taught in college.  I have often wondered the same thing myself.

  13. To give you privacy

  14. It';s for privacy...they don't really see you naked...it's not like you stand or lie there completely exposed.  You will wear a hospital gown and they will only see small areas at a time and only those necesary and you will be wearing underwear as well so they aren't looking at your private areas unless needed to.

  15. To help keep it clinical and as private as possible.

Would you like to have someone stare at you as you changed out of your street clothes into your gown?

With the doctor leaving the room they only see the parts they are required to see to do whatever it is they are doing.

  16. It's the formal distinction of profession  V  person

As the police officer is the "uniform"  or the janitor is the " livery.".. they are not  acting by virtue of their person, but rather by their appointed function.

Thus the Doctor makes formal exit to instigate the service formality of his/her functionality.

  17. ha ha! I always wondered the same thing. Maybe they think the act of undressing is sexual? I have no clue. Funny question.

  18. I suppose they don't want to stand there watching you strip off - just come back when you're laying on the bed!

  19. It's to give you privacy, to make sure you are as comfortable as possible.  Especially if they are a different s*x.

  20. First and most important answer-

They will waste their time in staying. There are better things to do- such as reading your history, checking over their last patients files, writing their thoughts about that last patient.

Your naked body is not even remotely interesting.

    They have seen them all.

The moments in between patients are for privacy concerns, consideration, good bedside manners, and just plain logical time to clean their hands, change gowns in between patients.

    Get over your self importance.

This is a job that they are doing. They have to do it well and according to standards.

  21. It is much funner to see you through their one-way mirror in the other adjacent room.

  22. i guess doctors like a surprise

  23. Because it's etiquette.

  24. They don't want to see your dirty underwear.

  25. They probably don't want you to feel uncomfortable taking your clothes off directly in front of them. They probably want to give you privacy while you undress.

  26. LOL!!! Funny thing, I never really thought about that. I guess so that you can have some kind of dignity and privacy. I guess they figure it makes us feel a little better about the situation.

  27. Human dignity. Also, they only see parts of you naked at one time-not the entire body ( usually ).

  28. Doctors respect the patients privacy babe!

  29. Many people feel insecure when others watch them undress.  It is polite for the doctor to leave the room.
