  1. it is a sign of affection or maybe she wants you to give her something or play my girl cavalier strokes my husbands face with her paw when he is laid on the floor she just loves showing affection and she also does this to my 9month old grandaughter

  2. Once you teach your dog to give paw and praise her and hug her for it, she will try to give you her paw when she wants praise and attention. My dog knows a ton of tricks, and when im eating, he will come near me and do all of them on his own just to see which trick will win him a piece of what im eating.

dogs are smarter than you could ever imagine, and once you realize why they do certain behaviors, you either will find them to be quirks that define their personality, or will be able to break them of it.

a simple paw isnt harmful, shes just trying to tap you and say "hey, pet me" the head resting on the lap is the same thing.

jumping on you is different, thats trying to see if they have moved up in the dominance ladder. be persistant and ignore dogs that jump on you and they will stop eventually.
