Why do dogs run in counterclockwise circles?

I dunno, but my healthy 1 year pug does  the same...always to the left and round and round she goes.  when we go out she runs circles around me, when she comes in she runs so many tiny circles from point a to point b one looses count.  she goes up the stairs in circles two up and one down...its funny but really has me concerned.  She goes so fast sometimes she runs right into things....im afraid it is going to get her dizzy littl bum hurt one day.  So if anyone can answer....it would be greatly appreciated.
