  1. Actually Venezuela has a more tropical climate that the jungle of Colombia. Due to irregularity in the governments, Colombia developed these drug cartels. There are a lot of politicas reasons on why they emerged more on Colombia and not Venezuela, its not just a matter of geography or climate. In places like Peru or Bolivia, coca leaves grow better but there isnt a drug production like in Colombia. So its not a matter of land, it's a matter of politics and government policies.

  2. Even though we both have the same climate I think there has been more control by the Venezuelan government. Also we never had the guerrilla problems the Colombians have. During Romulo Betancourt's government some guerrilla groups started to appear but the problem was quickly eliminated.

  3. Cocaine is the major product of the Colombian Cartels.

Its is derived from the Coca plant, native to the region and cultivated mainly on the Andean Cordillera....

In terms of Venezuela and Colombia....Geographically....Venezuela does not have much of this cordillera unlike Colombia ..which takes up a major section of the country.

The climate on the Andean cordillera allows this specific plant to flourish.

Colombia is able to mass produce the plant.....cartels see it as a business opportunity to respond to Demand. These guys can actually keep up with the supply to meet the demand. Basic economics.

Its unfortunate they exploit this because the plant is used in medicine and has been in many of our indigenous cultures.

Check the article about the Coca plant.....and take a look at a topography map of Colombia and Venezuela....and you can see what I am talking about.

  4. Because that's where coca is grown. Maybe the ground in venezuela doesnt have the right type of soil to grow the plant. I dont know, but most coca plants are grown i colombia... and in bolivia and peru also, but the majority of it is in colombia.

  5. easy question.

there are more drug cases in colombia than any part of latin america!

    regards

  6. Well, considering that the drug plantation, industry and production is mainly in Colombia, it's pure logic that the cartels emerge there.

Venezuela does not have known plantations or industry. In fact, the drugs that are intercepted in Venezuela always come from Colombia.

I don't think is much of a geopolitical reason as much as based in history of the industry and climate reasons. Both countries -although they are close - have quite different climates (and industry expertise).

Don't know many articles, but I bet the US government should have several reports on Colombia cartels. Try their official websites. At the FBI or CIA site you should find interesting stuff.

    Goodluck!

    HI AGAIN!

This is an additional response to your extra detail.

The countries might be in the same geographic area, but -as I said- their climates are quite DIFFERENT, not equal. Depends on the are of course, but Colombia tends to be quite a bit colder than Venezuelan.

So... different climates. That's a possibility.

    Goodluck again!
