Me and my gf are debating and I said it was because they are usually the ones that are driving faster. She claims it happens because there bodies are more relaxed and dont tense up. Need another opinion

  1. luck of the draw.

    terrible luck at that.

  2. I've heard about the relaxed part. I dont know about it allowing them to avoid death, but i heard that it help in the injury department. Its amazing how just being relaxed at the point of collision can make that much of a difference. But my sisters were in an accident, and all three people in their car were sent to the hospital, while the stupid a** drunks that ran the stop sign were perfectly fine, even after their car flipped.

  3. Sorry but your gf is right.  Of course it doesn't happen in all cases but a lot of times it's because they're more relaxed.

  4. everyone knows alcohol makes you invincible in times of need

(not advocating drunk driving)... i would go with the tense theory though.

  5. The reason is that they are more relaxed and it is the same if you are going to get hit and you see it coming, you relax before the impact, you dont tense up.

  6. Sorry, she's right. The reason is because they have slower reaction times and don't tense up which sober people do from reaction and that sends the shock from the steering wheel into your arms and stuff and really messes everything up.

  7. a good drunk man haha he got a second life or maybe he has  a cats life term 9 lives duh....He's very very lucky

  8. your g/f is right in many cases.

tension creates injuries.  I just watched the HUMAN BODY on the Discovery channel.  An example of this was shown in a real life hurricane situation.

  9. Muscles being relaxed is a part of it due to the alcohol. Another reason is probably because they are the ones usually ramming someone up from the side. They have a entire engine in between them to absorb the impact, while the victims are may only have a thin door between them.

  10. Sorry to tell you, but your girlfriend is right.  The alcohol sort of acts as a muscle relaxer.

If you have your arm straight out and stiff it can be broken very easily. Let it dangle by your side and it takes a much greater force to break it.

The more injuries you receive in an accident the more likely you are to perish from that accident. So a limp body will receive less injuries, and will therefore have a better chance of survival.

  11. She's right...

  12. that's not even true.
