Why do dvd prices vary so much?

Most dvds at the store cost around $10-$30 but there are ones that cost much more or less. Also there are some boxed sets and they can be cheaper or more expensive than single dvd movies. What determines the value of dvd movies? sometimes new dvds are just dumped in the value bin.

  1. SD DVD's are from 5 - 20 because they can play on a standard DVD player, but HD DVD and Blue-Ray are Real HD which requires HD LCD's and Blue Ray player to view, so they cost 30 and up.

  2. greed.

it costs about $1 to make the DVD and packaging. the super cheap cost is why movie studios don't make VHS versions anymore.

the rest is a free fight to get the consumers' money.
