Not cellulitus, but cellulitis it is a horrible infection. Maybe I didn't spell it right.

  1. Because of their weight, they tend to have swollen legs.

After a point, the legs are so swollen that they begin to leak water. This provides entry points for bacteria -> cellulitis.

  2. sorry  i  read  it  wrong  must  of been in a hurry this  is all  i  found  hope  it  answers your question  a little Cellulitis is caused by a type of bacteria entering by way of a break in the skin. This break need not be visible. Group A Streptococcus and Staphylococcus are the most common of these bacteria, which are part of the normal flora of the skin but cause no actual infection until the skin is broken. Predisposing conditions for cellulitis include insect bite, blistering, animal bite, tattoos, pruritic skin rash, recent surgery, athlete's foot, dry skin, eczema, injecting drugs (especially subcutaneous or intramuscular injection or where an attempted IV injection "misses" or blows the vein); plus burns and boils, though there is debate as to whether minor foot lesions contribute and also morbidly obese people can experience it.

  3. Cellulite is the lumpy fat thing, Cellulitis is the infection.

Obesity has many downsides.  One is the sparcity of circulation to the skin.  Another is tendency to insulin resistance or Type II (adult onset) diabetes (both of which also damage the circulatory system.)  A third is the tendency to have less than optimal physical activity.

Although I am not an expert on cellulitis, I expect it is because the above noted factors severely restrict the ability of the body to fight infection and heal injury.

This is also true with other sores or injuries to the skin.  The most effective way to lose one's legs to amputation (because of sores that don't heal) is to be an sedentary obese diabetic who smokes.
