Originally farmers attempted to cultivate the sky but found both sowing and harvesting difficult, by placing seeds in the ground the plants not only found it easier to absorb soil based nutrients they were less likely to fall on the farmers head.  Cultivate means farm.

Cultivating helps keep down weed growth and loosens the soil so water can soak into the ground and to mix fertilizers into the soil so the crop will get the most of the fertilizer that has been spreed on the the crop field. Farmers Feed The World and are the least paid! And they are one of the most important business in the world, but people seem to forget that everytime they eat! If you ate today thank a farmer!

farmers cultivate the land to get better yields from their crops.  as we all know, we can't just throw seeds randomly if we are to feed millions of mouths. it should be systematic.

They cultivate to aerate the soil, loosen it so that it will hold rain and to weed the soil from undesirable plants like johnson grass  cocklebur sunflowers etc that would rob the cash crop ( Like corn cotton maize)  form moisture and nutrients during the growing season

Are you doing the real estate business. I think you are asking this question why? If they are not cultivated, you show that lands are not useful for the cultivation and get the certificate from the authorities and sell these lands through your real estate business for huge profit. am I right?
