  1. It is renewable. It can be recycled from cooking oils. It burns cleaner. The carbon it does produce when it burns is absorbed more easily by the carbon cycle. Also, some engines actually run better on it.

  2. If someone is concerned about global warming, and wants to cut their vehicle emissions of CO2 then biodiesel is the way to go. It can be made from many plants, coconut oil, used cooking oil and similar. There is a plant called jatropha that has seeds that when crushed produce a very good quality biodiesel fuel. It can be grown in arid regions where other food plants don't grow, so it does not compete with food production.

Biodiesel is much cleaner burning and is better for the engine as well as the environment

  3. Biodiesel is better than diesel.Less engine wear.Non toxic b100.Most farmers can grow their own fuels.

  4. People who produce almost any product will make a point of using that product, but particularly when the public dearly wants to know if there are any big problems. Now the public might still not hear about it if there were problems. but if the producers do not use it, we just know there is a problem.

There are also times when every bit of demand helps to keep up the price the producer can get. The need is to prop up sales whenever they are a bit slack.

Farmers would not ordinarily spend more for fuels if they can get fuel for less, but they will eat a bit of higher cost if it means a higher price for what they sell, which may be many times greater.

There is no known benefit to the machinery in using bio-fuel. So we can point to a lower cost to get the fuel to the farm. That makes a lot more difference if petroleum fuel is arriving from very distant  sources. It does not make as much difference if the bio-fuel is coming a long distance.
