Why do farts smell worse when you let them under or in water than they do in normal dry air?

Why do farts smell worse when you let them under or in water than they do in normal dry air?

Maybe I'm missing something here, but I've never noticed underwater farts smelling any worse than dry air farts.  Perhaps the combined smell of f**t and chlorine is particularly gross?  In a bathroom, you'd be in a confined area, so the smell would be stronger.

Ive never smelled a f**t underwater and I didn't know you could!

If you f**t in the ocean it smells like diaper crud. I think its like that because the ocean is saltwater.

oh god yes...

i can attest to this.. 6-year swimmer, 3 years of water polo, scubs diver, and all around water lover..

when i f**t on land..sometime they don't smell sometimes they really smell, etc.. you know..

but every time i let one go underwater it smells like rusty nails and chlorine..  EVERYtime

I'am not sure of this my dear but i find if you place a stick of celery in each room of of your household this will cover the smell of any nasty niff, this should cut the mustard, love Celery T x

you are 10000000% right. i absolutely try to hold it in when in the pool with my friends. i hate it!!!!

When under water, you are in a confined bathroom and don't have much room circulation. You get all of the smell and can't walk away from them.

I don't think it's the chlorine. Since I've never farted in a pool, I need to do that sometime ^_^, but I can say for sure that it's worse when I'm in the shower. I'd guess it's the water itself.
