  1. because they are cooked fresh in all that lovely hot oil, probably crawling with transfats, served hot and salty.  You can't replicate that at home.

  2. I think that is just your imagination, because the fries in the fast food places are not cut fresh before frying. They are frozen, and processed, just like the grocery kind.

  3. Probably because of the kinds of potatoes used for those particular fries and not to mention the grease their fried in the compliment the taste. They have like a quality brand of stuff that we can't get from the store.

  4. Because of grease.

  5. fast food fries are not better than the fries that you make at home.

  6. They use a different kind of oil and they have industrial sized fryers unlike most people at home in their kitchens.

  7. I SELL FOOD TO RESTAURANTS AND I CAN TELL YOU THAT MOST FRENCH FRIES ARE ALL MADE THE SAME, BUT AT HOME, YOU DO NOT HAVE A PROFESSIONAL FRYER.  YOU ALSO DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO THE SHORTENING THAT RESTAURANTS USE.  THIS COMBINATION WILL KEEP YOU FROM HAVING FRENCH FRIES THAT DO NOT TASTE THE SAME.

THE TEMPERATURE OF THE FRYER AND THE TEMPERATURE OF THE OIL AS WELL AS THE BRAND OF FRENCH FRIES AND SHORTENING THAT YOU CAN PURCHASE AT THE GROCERY STORE ALL STACK UP AGAINST YOU.

SORRY, BUT YOU STILL HAVE TO GO OUT FOR GREAT FRENCH FRIES.

  8. try this... cut the potatoes into fry shape(s) of your choice, then

let the potatoes soak in a bath of salted water(1tsp per qt.) for at least 2 hours(the longer the better), drain well, this may sound  crazy but place them in the freezer until frozen, then in a hot ( and i mean hot ) fryer cook them till a light golden brown. salt as soon as they come out and serve right away.

  9. Because they fry them in stuff that is horrible for you.  At home, you bake them.

  10. Try this:  in addition to following the directions on the frozen ff package, put a little canola or olive oil on the fries before you put them in the oven, then put salt on them right when they come out of the oven.  Don't let them get cold before you eat them.

  11. I think they have a witch casting spells over them or something. I can only go so many days without McDonalds fries and I don't know why that is!
