Why do female beach volleyball players have to wear such tiny bikinis when competing?

These women are almost naked when they have their games. Why? Is it just for a little T&A to attract fans? Why don't they wear shorts and t-shirts or something like that?

less friction and air resistance... and if they fall into the sand... they can avoid sand going up 'places' hahas

It's to attract fans.  Obviously, it would be more comfortable to wear lose-fitting shorts and shirts.  Put them in what they should wear - loose fitting shorts and shirts - and viewership will plummet.  Just look at the shorts and shirts that the men wear in indoor games and the shorts they wear in beach games.  Same thing with women's international indoor volleyball -- their shorts are like bikini bottoms.  If it's for comfort, then the men should wear speedos.

Have you seen the muscles on these women? A few have skin like leather... It's the only way they can pick up other women.

honestly your reading way to much into it they are on the beach after all, where all girls wear bikinis and they just happen to be playing volleyball...whats the big deal?

One word:marketing.  (but there allot of sponsors that were left out in the cold because they couldn't fit there promos on such small cloth.) Until the peel on decal logo,there was no place to say"hey i play for this sponsor".You see,Pro players,like allot of pro players in other sports,get 90% of there income from sponsors,not the measly tournament prize.All of this is kind of sad to see the "s*x sells",actual athletic competition is just a "vehicle" for that.But dont take it to heart,in ten years,rest assured,the sport will evolve and so will its fans,and hopefully people will watch for the athletic competition and not the "tanned glistining skin hype" the media has made it out to be.

I know someone who applied for modeling jobs and they told her she looked hot but was too tall. They offered instead to put her on a beach volleyball team.

And you are right it is just a way to get exposed female flesh bouncing around in bikinis to attract a crowd.

THEY ARE IN THE SUN AND SWEATING SOO BAD AND THEY DONT WANT TO BE BOTHERED WITH EXTRA CLOTHES AND PLUS BAGGY CLOTHES ARENT COMFORTABLE TO PLAY IN WHEN YOUR SWEATING...BUT IF THEY DO ATTRACT MORE MALE FANS MORE POWER TO THEM...I DO AGREE THO SPANDEX AND A SPORTS BRA WOULD EVEN BE AN IMPROVMENT
