If the the small bikini is indeed more comfortable and enhance their athletic abilities (as McPeak suggested), why don't male players play shirtless in a speedo?

  1. I've wondered this myself - and I think you've got some really good answers already.  I don't know that I've seen guys play beach volleyball (at least in serious competition) in speedos - but I have seen a lot of them play shirtless.

It does seem to be an olympic thing - and that part doesn't make sense to me.  But at least the ladies are still wearing their bikinis in the olympics.

  2. cause athletic girls have killer bodys

and its kinda ew to see a guy in a spedo

and volleyball is usually a girl sport so there is not an official uniform. they just match who is on their team

  3. some male players do play shirtless. not all, but some.. also generally you play in bathing suit attire. men wear shorts 9 out of 10 times. and girls wear one piece or bikinis, and when you are around 6 ft tall, and an awesome body, what girl wouldnt pick the bikini?? im sure it also has other advantages. but im sure thats a factor... just my opinion.

  4. Because the male organ is outside of the body and would be considered vulgar protuding in the speedo.

  5. I just watched this slide show regarding that same issue. Read the captions and it will explain why.

  6. All Men's beach players DO play shirtless. The FIVB (The international governing body for the sport of volleyball) makes them wear shirts during the Olympics though, this is so women are not able to see men's nipples and physique's on TV. Yet, in swimming, it's okay. (Shrugs shoulders)

All Women wear the skimpiest outfits, indoors and out, because it is s**y to look at for the average male Olympic watcher. Most volleyball fans look beyond it and watch the plays.

This is extremely sexist and a completely gross double-standard by the businessmen running the FIVB. See, the majority of the world is against women's rights and in most parts of the world feel they must protect women's eyes from such blatantly sexual apparel. Men however, do not need this protection as they are more capable as humans and can handle viewing near-nakedness. This is not what I think, this is what a majority of the world thinks.

Many years ago, the FIVB decided to do as much as it could to make volleyball as s**y as possible and sacrifice all that was good about the game. They have also changed the game to benefit those that sit on their *** most of the time and watch volleyball only when the Olympics are on and royally s***w the people that actually love the sport.

Now, you WILL get women that say that playing with tight and short panty-like spandex, that is so small that it looks like a thong is on, is beneficial and allows for better movement. These women have simply been conditioned that they must dress this way in order to play the sport.

This change in the women's game has hurt the men's game as many potential male players dismiss volleyball as a chick sport. Something to look at when they are home alone with some hand lotion and not a serious sport.

If you think the skimpy outfits benefit the players, let's make Lisa Leslie and Serena Williams wear underwear when they play.

The quote of "It allows us to move better" is complete BS.

  7. Honestly, I think it is also for the eye candy.

  8. What you wear as a guy really doesn't affect your play very much, especially in the shirt/no shirt department, but wearing a speedo would give me problems, they're too tight and confining, I def prefer trunks that go to just above my knees.  You want to play in what you feel comfortable in, that's what is most important.
