I posted this previous question asking what legitimate purpose feminism serves today, and most of the answers said things like "Well, women in other countries need help..."

  1. Good question. UNIFEM - the feminist branch of the UN - are supporting very anti-male laws all over the world. For example they are supporting the jailing of men who have done nothing worse that insult a female relative. Evidence? See Section 4 here http://www.freewebs.com/feminism-evaluat...

  2. That's assuming that all the women in those countries are perfectly happy. They're not. You sound very naive and probably haven't travelled very much, but I have and I can assure you that many of the women I met in developing countries are quite unhappy with their lives and with being second class citizens. It also impacts me directly when misogynistic individuals from such countries come into my country and start harassing and raping women here because such acts are 'acceptable' in their countries.

  3. We already told you that "spreading the ideology" is the least of our concerns. Women in those countries are more oppressed than women here have ever been at any point in history. Saudi Arabia has been identified as a violator of human rights, and not only in regards to women, but they show no signs of letting up. Should we allow that to continue?

  4. I think the central problem is that your view is "women belong in the kitchen." In this case, you view females as submissive and inferior, much the way white slave drivers viewed african americans. So instead of bothering to answer your question, I'll give you a tip: no gender or race is inferior. It makes you seem ignorant.

    Welcome to the new millennium.

  5. The true and initial ideology of feminism was to equal the standing between women and men, equal pay, attention to female health concerns, allowance of women into male dominated structures. All very valid reasons for women to gain a leg up in a society that was still used to their s*x as being second class. In many nations today, it is that or worse. So the movement does have a moral obligation to press for women's rights in countries that there is none.

Now, If I may, I understand your disdain for the present day feminist. To me, it appears that the feminist in today's world have forgotten that there is also an equal place for men, and because of an agenda, a stereotype, an empowerment in knocking down the status quote. Some feminists have taken the extreme position and the position that men had a hundred years ago when it came to them, "that they are second class and neanderthal in their ways." What we haven't done, or more accurately are just starting to be come aware of is, that there is validity in masculine as much as there is feminine. And the balance of these genders is what is required to form healthy relationships in society both in work, political and social settings.

The problem with modern feminisim is that to many woman get on a "get even" band wagon, rather then on the OK, I can now do anything I choose to do so long as I'm good at it and can claim respect in doing it. And to many men (less in this country) are still resistant to women being their equal.

the movement must temper itself, but it also must pervail.

  6. An excellent question. Yes, feminism is a contagion and the UN (a massive fascist burocracy in which the world's peoples have no democratic say) has been foolish and irresponsible for allying itself to it.

People in foreign lands have their own customs and traditions and systems of government. They do not impose themselves on us and we in turn should not dabble and interfere in their affairs.

  7. Do human rights activists corrupt the world?  Feminists support those who work against human rights violations that involve women.  You probably support children's slavery gangs and the gun runners.  Feminism fights against these things also.  If this is infection - I hope it spreads quickly.

  8. So you would be okay sending the loved women in your life to many of these countries spoken of?

  9. Feminism is NOT a western ideal - that is a presumption of yours.

The history of women's right is long and varied - before Amercian history, even.

Many men were active at first b/c they had access to public life. They advocated for women's education. They were in INdia, China, etc.

Second, the concept of equality does occur NOW in countries around the world. I have traveled extensively & have found feminists in every corner. To think the theory of equality is specific to Western countries is really narrow-minded and arrogant.

Finally, feminism is needed in other countries. In some places, women & children are still considered possessions, cannot leave w/o their husbands permission, work like slaves from sun up to sun down, lack educational opps, access to the economy, etc.

You really need to study history and understand the world we live in.
