Question:

Why do feminists tell us that women are so much kinder than men...?

... yet feminists come across as some of the most callous people you could ever meet e.g. don't seem to care about boys struggling in school, treat abortion like its the right to get a tooth pulled, talk about men as if they are a disease that needs to be cured etc

In the face of this apparent hard-heartedness, how are we supposed to believe, for example, that "Without men the world would be a better place: softer, kinder, more loving; calmer, quieter, more humane." Ann Oakley (1984) Taking It Like a Woman.

How can feminists justify this contradiction?

  1. When?! Except for the obscure names you love to cite so much, feminists are usually the first to object to claims like that, even flattering ones.

  2. Abortion is a right. A lot men agree with that. And Europe.

I don't believe women are generally kinder at all. Less violent, sure, but a lot are very passive aggressive. I've never had a good "girl" friend, but I have plenty of great guy friends... always there, never say bad things about me, etc. Infact, I refuse to even live with girls anymore from all the bad experiences.

I just fight for my own rights. In the end, It's best to judge people based on their personality anyway, rather than genitals.

  3. Unfortunately feminism has been greatly distorted from it's original vision... feminism was supposed to be about bringing woman's rights up to what men had... but somewhere along the way, it began to become a man-bashing group of women who apparently wanted to get rid of all men. It's hypocrisy, and it's too bad that it's gone in that direction.

  4. Hi doodle, you brought up an interesting point. Not all women are gentle, not all men are mean. To say that the world would be a softer, kinder place without men is a generalization. I'd like to point out that this quote is from one author, and not necessarily representative of all women that champion equal rights.

Unfortunately, some authors do seem to contradict themselves, and I believe it is up to us as readers, to distinguish between  them and not take everything that is written as gospel. It's a good thing to examine statements and critique their validity.

Without discernment, we are at the mercy of anyone who feels the need to publish.

  5. "Why do feminists tell us that women are so much kinder than men...?

... yet feminists come across as some of the most callous people you could ever meet"

A: Who the h**l told you that?  Feminists don't go around saying how kind they are.  What a load of c**p.

B: Just because you see someone as callous doesn't mean that they are.

"e.g. don't seem to care about boys struggling in school, treat abortion like its the right to get a tooth pulled, talk about men as if they are a disease that needs to be cured etc"

You're relying on the stereotypes of feminism.  Stop it, please.

"In the face of this apparent hardheartedness, how are we supposed to believe, for example, that "Without men the world would be a better place: softer, kinder, more loving; calmer, quieter, more humane." Ann Oakley (1984) Taking It Like a Woman."

You DO realize that "feminist" and "woman" are not interchangeable words, right?

"How can feminists justify this contradiction?"

So we're supposed to justify every stupid thing that anti-feminists say?  "Why do feminists think that the Beatles are better than Elvis?"  "Why do studies show that feminists like Cool Ranch Doritos over Nacho?"  When does this end??

  6. Because it would support their notion that women are better than men.

  7. There is no justification whatsoever for the complete disregard  of a human being.

  8. They are gynocentric.
