Question:

Why do flies like daisies?

I don't think i've ever seen flies on flowers like bees

and I noticed these daisies come up in front of the house I moved to. The flies flocked to the daisies shortly after for a day or two and basically I can tell they just sucked all the nutrients out

They did not go to other flowers and I even noticed some other insects as well as wasp that I never saw.

The irony is I did not even notice any honey bees or other bees which I see on flowers.

There must be something in the yellow portion of daisies that is different from other flowers

but what?

  1. probably because they smell sweet.

    flys are rude.

  2. Many insect feed upon the nectar of flowers, not just honey bees.  Fact is honey bees are not native to America.  So before them the flowers were getting pollinated by many other insects.  If you'll watch your flowers close you see ants, wasp, beetles, flies, butterflies, moths, bugs and other bees visiting them.
