Why do flys seem to congregate around energy sources like TV's, computer monitors, dishwashers?

I live near horse stables and they are freakin everywhere! I can't get rid of the things! Aside from unattractive fly tape, any other ideas?

i live on a farm.... over the years weve used..big stinky traps a blue light zapper,fly tape,and fly earing bugs...all work a little..thy like elect things for the hear and light...slap on some fly repellant..it workes

Not all, some kind of flying insects attracted by light, no idea why..
