  1. its a very affordable oasis.

  2. cheap, away from their own home, girls, easy going lifestyle, food, climate, scenery, fun, exotic, etc, etc, etc...

  3. it's cheaper and not boring...

  4. cheaper goods, slow time

  5. Because it's a simple and happy country despite its imperfections and problems. Other countries are more career focused. Philippines = just plain happiness with family and friends.

  6. Agree with Ako si Dude.   I once had an American neighbor who was near retirement from the service and boasted nonstop of being prepared to retire in the Philippines.  He said he had cars, furniture and appliances all set to be shipped and all he needed to do was find a house to move in.  The irony of it was that the Filipina wife wanted to stay in the U.S. a little while after retirement, but the American dude was in a hurry to leave the U.S.

  7. Probably coz it's cheaper by means of living situations, lots of places & things to do, hella down to earth easy going lifestyle, and can't beat the weather...Shoot i'd do the same when i retire

  8. Because of women! (Filipina)!!!

  9. cause philippines is one of the most livable places on earth, accrding to the article i read in reader's digest..and maybe because the things in the philippines are lots more cheaper that in other countries..(just basing on the exchange rate)

  10. you go ako......love is the great healer,I heard that somewhere

  11. It's cheaper and their pension and savings will go far compared to their own countries.. Besides that, they can live like a King or Queen..

  12. I'm an American not quite ready for retirement but close.  Here's why:

    1.  In America rent or mortgage pmt run about $1000 or better.  Car payment, insurance, gas, maintenance, another $1000 or better.  Take that same $2000 and I can live good in Phils no need for a car payment and the rent under $100.  Not to mention other expense.

    2.  At retirement age we're not that much interested in "the girls" especially since I already have a Filipina wife and I'm happy with her.

    3.  The people I know well in Phils treat me pretty good better than my own people.

    4.  The daily lifestyle in Phil is much slower and relaxing and nobody is such a hurry.  One can actually have a hobby and time to do it.

    5.  I like being around happy people it also makes me happy like them. I'm tired of being around fat, miserable, man-haters, who seem to occupy space everywhere I go in America.

    6.  I like going to Fiesta whenever I want to and there is always one nearby when I'm in Phils.

    7.  In Philippines my wife and I have time to enjoy each others company and we both enjoy simple things in life.

    8.  I like whenever I give something to some kids, shoes, shirt, food, etc, and they actually appreciate it.  Same for the grown ups some of them.  It tickles my heart when the kids do the Christmas singing at my door and I can give them something.  They are so happy about it.  You NEVER see that in my home country.

    9.  We already own some property in Philippines and when we retire we can help many people to earn a living there.

There's more but thats a good start.

  13. you're a god if you're a foreigner in the philippines

  14. actually, it's  not just Philippines, although everyone here is right! its because, most of the foreigners who retire in other country are from countries with four seasons meaning there is a winter when it is really cold! that's why some of the people in the US who retire are spending the rest of their lives in the FLORIDA where it's not that cold, but then, it will cost them too much to live there so that's why they go to other countries where they can afford to live a luxurious life!

  15. they can afford maids that can sleep with them in bed.

  16. i agree with Ako si dude up there. he couldn't have said it any better.it's just a all around good place.
