  1. Basically there are different kinds of alcoholics.  Only 3% of them are the 'skid row' type, the non-functioning ones.  The rest are all varying degrees of alcoholism.

    Why is there such a range of different types of alcoholics?

    Because there are all different kinds of people, and everyones genetic makeup and body biochemistry is different.
