Why do gas prices shoot up in the summer time?

Supply and demand is a BS reason because they shoot up way before people start to run around more.

Also, Diesel is not harder to refine, because it is not far from crude oil, and even if it was, why is gasoline going up. Diesel has also had low sulfur emmisions restrictions for over eight years. I'm tired of the BS of talking down to us from the oil gurus.

  1. more travelling for vacations

  2. Cause people drive more in the summer and go on vacations??

  3. Just the prospect of a greater demand makes it go up, because oil companies know they can charge higher and people will still pay.

  4. Money,   They use the excuse that demand is on the rise but in all actuality it is about profit.  People vacation more in the summer months and as such it drives profit up to raise prices during the higher traffic months.

  5. Because everyone is driving in the summer who can afford to fly these day's. So they increase prices. what a shock so they make more profit.

I can't wait till we get an alternative fuel source and the oil company's go out of bussiness

  6. They have to use a "summer gas" mix which is harder to refine supposedly.  They have to switch their refineries to deal will making the summer mix, that always bumps the price up in the summer.

Also the "clean" diesel we use now is a lot different than before.  The diesel burns a lot cleaner, but it is a little more harder to refine.  Hence the reason why it is more than gas.

But the prices at the pump now have no excuse.  Yes we are slowly running out of oil, but there are a lot of places that we can drill for more oil that will allow us to pay an affordable price while at the same time developing technology that will let us buy eletric cars at an affordable price.

Like I said before...if people invest in Wal-Mart or McDonald's like they do with oil, does the price of Good Value Spagetti or a double-cheeseburger shoot up to double the price??  Don't think so.
