Why do girls care how a guy dresses???

Question

Is it just because they don't want to be up-stagged by a guy when they go out, want all the others girls to get jealous of what they have next to them, or is it something else. I personally dress 90% of the time like a Ralph Lauren model since I'm a prep and have a pretty good body at least shape wise(fairly tall at 5'11", lean, and slender), and I swear a lot of girls don't appreciate a guy who dresses nice. I just don't get what's attractive about a guy wearing a rumpled t-shirt and some funky button-up or hoodie...the A&F and Hollister look is sooo sloppy and offers no style at all.

You must be american, because over here in england, we dont care what name your wearing, or really what your wearing, as long as its kind of what everyone else is wearing, and isnt hidious, then we dont care. Infact  if you were designer gear, your likley to be branded a man w***e, and everyone would stear clear of you.

You're generalizing the female population there. Not every girl is into the effortlessly casual frumpy look. To be honest, there's nothing better to me than a guy in a polo, slacks, and loafers (even better when in a white shirt, tie, and blazer) but you're not going to see every girl swooning over that image. It's completely dependent on individual taste and you have to take that into consideration.

P.S. Purple Label makes me swoon ;)

Ace, I thougt you said you were a Ralph Lauren model! I so take the thing back about how you would look good in those shoos! And frankly I think the preppy style looks a bit stuck up. I really don't like A&F, it seems like they sell the same clothes over and over. The polo, the brand shirt, ...

i think people are too afraid to wear other brands (esp in high school)

some girls do notice, it just depends on their style

I think its because they want to "showcase" their guy wearing clothes with large labels so all the other girl are jelous - with my self wearing j.crew with no logo on it some girls ask if "my mom dressed me from sears" i laugh and walk on knowing my shoes are worth more than her whole outfit. girls who are like that arn't worth it any way.

well i think that ralph lauren is ok for like dads and stuff...but i prefer skater/ surf brands like element and hurley i dont like abercrombie and hollister myself so i think its g*y if a guy wears it

It really just depends on the girl and what there into.

Most girls really like the preppy Abercrombie guys.

Don't get me wrong, i lovee A&F, Hollister and American Eagle boys :)

But as long as the guy can dress nicely and can present himself, i would have no problem :)

The pattern I notice is that girls usually are into guys that wear the same brand of clothing they wear.

Girls who wear pacsun clothes and skating clothes, usually go for te skateboard guys.

Girls who are really into Hottopic and stuff usally go for the guys who are into that as well.

You sound like a very handsome guy, so If I were you I wouldn't worry about it. Girls are just weird :D lol

I agree 100%. It can't be that they like the more expensive clothes, or they would be all over the type of clothes you wear.  They seem to like a t-shirt with some big name going across it.  I normally dress in Polo too, but girls don't seem to even know about that brand.  All they know about is the Hollister and Abercrombie.  To be honest, I don't think that the girls who prefer those brands could answer this themselves.  They obsess so much over only liking those brands, they have forgotten why they like those brands.

Well, I don't feel this way,

but my guess would be that girls are sometimes insecure about guys. They feel that a guy who looks really good must need to spend a lot of time on himself, therefore not able/willing to spend a lot of time on the girl.

I know it's stupid, but it is true.

I guess I really don't care.

I prefer the rumpled up t-shirt because they look more laid back and more fun to be around.
