Why do girls want their period so bad?

I can remember before I got mine, I wanted to get my first period so much, and I have no idea why, I absolutely hate it now. So why do so many girls want their period?

I am 13 no period yet, and i think i want it to feel more mature and grown up. I think it would make me feel like a women, also getting a bigger size bra makes you feel like a women i got a bigger size today!

i think it was because all of my friends were getting theirs and i wanted to fit into that circle too

it could be that they're excited to be a "woman" even though it sucks ... -_-

but it could also be that they just wanna get it to get it over with, like to not have that constant fear of getting it in public. for a while i never thought about it and then i was like "c**p!! what if i get it at a movie or something and i get blood stains!!!" and then i just wanted it to come so that way i always knew when it was coming and i could be prepared.

the girls that are sexually active want there period because it means that they are not pregnant. but i dont know why girls who aren't would want theres

i guess cuz we want to grow up? i got mines a little later then most of friends and i felt like i was still a little girl and they were all "women" lol but it sucks

Because they are infatuated with the illusion of having had a cycle it represent womanhood not knowing the other symptoms they sometimes accompany it.

yeah same with me, i wanted mine because i didnt get mine until later than most people so i felt like a little kid and wanted mine so bad, but arghhh having periods suck so bad !

Because it's exciting! Girls are excited that they are going to be a woman, but they have no idea what it's like. SO when they get it, it sucks, maybe it hurts, and then they've already had it, so there is nothing to wait for anymore.
