Why do girls want to be tall?

Question

i'm 5'8 and i hate it.

i'm not overweight at all and i weigh like 40 pounds more than all my friends that are about 5'3. if you aren't superskinny, being tall makes you look like a giant pig.

and i have to wear sizes like.. 8 and 7. if i had the same proportions and i was 5'3, i would probably be in a 1-2 or 3-4.

you could weigh more cause of your height. i'm guessing your american cause i don't understand your sizes.

i don't want to be tall i'd just like my legs to be a few inches longer i'm sure i've shrunk lol.

'cause models are tall.  it's what considered beautiful.

   and if you need longer pants, you don't have to up a size, you can get the size in long in some places.

Sarah, why would you hate being tall?  People prefer tall, especially when it comes to men, but tall women are deemed "better looking" by many.  I am a short man, 5'8", and satisfied with my height.  But the rest of the world is not.  SO be it.  And to be a 5'8" woman and a size 7-8, that is not bad.  Don't be so stuck on the numbers.  Appreciate what you've got.

personally i like being short, im 5'3, but being tall is nice because if your fit youve got amazing long legs that guys love

models are tall you you have a 50 percent chance to be a model and models are pretty lol...but im only 5'1'' lol andim fine with it lol..at times =]

Well, I'm 5'8" and I love it. Wish I was an inch or two taller though :(

Just because a girl is tall does not automatically make her a big girl. You wear the same sizes as shorter girls who look your build, only in "long". And taller girls can actually carry extra weight better, because there is more frame for it to distribute on. The taller you are, the longer the legs, so I'm really not seeing a downside here. Sure, certain insecure guys may feel intimidated by you, but that's their problem. There's lot of shorter guys who prefer tall women too.

It just depends on how you're naturally built and what's in your genes, but it sounds like you've got a lot of self esteem issues. Love yourself, be confident, and you'll be happy.

i clearly dont get it either, i think the other teenagers look at all the magazines and think that they should be the same way.

I am 5'6" and i would do anything to be about 2" or 3" shorter. I would love being able to put on jeans without having to worry about the legnth.Around some people (i.e my boyfriend, and some of our friends) I still feel short, and I get called short. But really, compared to call my girl friends, i am tall...

but, look at it this way bc i do...

short girls prob. have to watch what they eat and stuff bc well thiers not alot of room for the fat to go...

im just naturally not fat and i eat everything i want to.

plus your 5'8 and my 5'7 are actually to short to be a model ...

well, i mean tyra banks likes 6 foot and up ...

i watch alot of  top model....

I don't know what girls you're talking about. I never see any girls that want to be tall. And I find it attractive when girls are over 5'5''.

cause every girl dreams of being a model..I have the same problem, IM 5'10, so trust me its harder finding pants long enough..I don't hate being tall either, I can eat waaay more than my short friends and still look skinny!! You should appreciate ur height, and 5'8 is not that tall, so be quiet.

I am short and I love it! I would also love to be tall though. Most girls probably want to be tall because models are tall and models are considered beautiful. I think you are being to harsh on yourself, I'm sure you are beautiful and look great tall!

All girls envision themselves looking like runway models : )

But you know, I've found out that guys go for more petite girls, which sucks because I'm tall...haha.

I think some girls do admire ladies that do take part in a beauty contest. Another think i will consider is that, most modelists are taller than the average height of women.
