Why do girls wear make up?

If a girl walked up to you who, unfortunately, has bad acne and really dark undereye circles, would you be able to honestly say she's beautiful? (In terms of only physical appearance). I agree that looks aren't everything but being able to present oneself in a pleasant way isn't bad. Also, some girls just don't have the confidence to walk out bare faced... because sadly, most males care about physical appearances more than personality.

Of course, too much make up is bad - even I have to agree with that. I know some girls who cake their faces and it's just horrible. Although I think having an appropriate and reasonable amount on is fine. Also, some people see it as an interest, a hobby, a form of art. So it's not just about "making themselves look pretty" - they might think it's fun for all you know! :)

Also.. there is a difference between make up and war paint!! You're right, some ppl layer it on and it doesn't look all that great.. The point of make up is to enhance natural beauty, unfortunately some ppl forget that.. ;-p

Well, I can only speak for myself :) I put makeup cuz I enjoy it, I like fashion and I like looking different .. It's just so much fun, even though many people tell me I look prettier without makeup I just can't stop wearing it.. It's not like I have to have it on all the time, I go out many time without any makeup on and still feel pretty and attractive.. for me makeup goes with my mood :)

I just smiply love makeup, specially eye makeup cuz that's my personality

i don,t use make up very less only lipstick .they put make up because they  can look more beautiful.i believe if u heart is kind and good person then nothing to do with make up u r then beautiful.

I can almost guarantee that some of those 'natural women' you're looking at *are* wearing make-up, it's just very subtle and expertly applied!

For me, I don't really have the confidence to go out in public without make-up. Since I have no natural beauty, I have to create it myself... which is fine, I guess-- I've come to accept that. It just means I have to work a little harder to look good than people with natural beauty.

Also, it is sort of a confidence boost. Without make-up, my eyes are very dull, boring, lifeless... but when I have all of my eye make-up on, I get compliments on them a lot. People tell me they like the way I do my eye make-up, and say my eyes look really big and pretty. Without it, though? I look terrible.

and besides that... it's like an art to me. There is SO much you can do with make-up, especially the eyes. Like you can get so creative with it. I just love putting on all sorts of shimmers, glitters, different kinds of eye shadows and eyeliners, it kind of makes me stand out. Plus, it makes me feel good to put it on (I even put it on when I'm angry or sad).

So I guess it could be to boost their confidence a little (or a lot), enhance their appearance, express themselves, etc.

aww thats sweet. :) thanks. but sometimes we as girls will compare ourselves to other girls and we will tend to feel insecure, so by us wearing makeup its kinda a confidence booster :)

It's great that you think girls are beautiful without make-up, but you can really make it look natural, so those girls could be wearing make-up.  Make-up gives girls extra confidence because we love to be beautiful.  Especially for guys!

Well, I wear makeup to look better! I like to enhance my features. Without any makeup I am really plain looking.

well there is a fine line between wearing make up, and waaayyy over doing it. a little bit brings out our best features, for people such as yourself to enjoy.
