Why do grow lights work?

grow lights simulate sunlight.  you must keep them on for 14-16 hours a days, and move them about an inch or so above the plants as they grow.

Bc they trick plants into thinking they are getting sunlight. Since the sun doesn't shine all day and night, they are getting more exposure. Unnatural, but they don't know that.
