Question:

Why do grown people take so much pleasure in hurting others?

Shouldn't teasing or tormenting another person stop in childhood? I don't like to see grown people picking on other grown people. Shouldn't they learn to grow up and not be judgmental.

  1. Well, probably because:

    A. They are careless.

    B. They didn't learn their lesson earlier on in life.

    OR

    C. They are immature.

Honestly. . I am getting tired of McCain & Obama arguing like children.

    & other adults, too.

    What children!

  2. This will go on your entire life. It is also done by men and women.

The translation of a tease, is the opposite of what they say literally is true.

The source of teasing is lies.

What happens is this. A person notices something about another person, pleasant usually, and then they are embarassed about stating what the observation or sensation is. So, they reverse the words which they wanted to say, and say the opposite.

Somehow, without saying it, they think the other person can translate from what was said to what was intended. When this fails the other person is hurt, and the teasing person is confused.

    Some examples are:

Wow, you really look good, turns into:

You are getting a little fat.

    Hey slacker! turns into:

I really enjoy your doing as much work as the rest of us.

The only time this is suspended, is when the phrase, I am not joking is used, and it said without a twinkle in the eye or a smile on the lips.  This says take the first phrase literally, unless that too was a joke and therefore needs to be reversed.

Oh yes joking and teasing are much related.

    ...Curt...

    Happy reversing.
