Okay. I have a male pearl gray guinea hen. Every night he goes into his tree to roost. Then he begins to "screech" he will talk about for about 20 minutes before shutting up. He drives me nuts because i didnt get him, he just showed up in my yard and now lives here. What i want 2 know is WHY does he does this? Its EVERY night and occasionally mornings too when he gets up. Please tell me! my grandmother wants to know and she wont leave me alone until I find out!

  1. If he is a male it is not a hen.  He is announcing his position for mates.  Males have a one syllable call and females have a two syllable call, unless they are sounding an alarm.  They can be great watch dogs especially if a snake gets in your yard.

  2. ask a vet what's wrong with him
