Whenever it rains small beads and rain drops form underneath my gutters. It almost appears as if they are leaking. What causes this?

  1. The rain falling into the gutters is very cold and causes condensation on the outside of the gutters.

  2. Unless your gutters are clogged with leaves (as is common in woodsy areas), normal rainfall is likely the cause.  The small amount of rain that falls on the rim of the gutter trickles down to the lowest point on the bottom.  Surface tension holds these beads of water in place until the droplet becomes too heavy.

It's also possible that condensation could play a small role.  In the same way that a cold glass of water will "bead up" on a hot day, the water flowing through the gutter may cool it enough to cause moisture from the air to condense and collect on the underside.  Because the gutters are at the edge of the roof, it is likely that the air beneath them is slightly warmer (and so able to hold more moisture), which would further add to condensation.

  3. Your gutters most likely are clogged so when it rains and then fill up, then the water which you can barely see well at a distance overflows on the outside and what you see is the droplets dripping off the bottom.

If your home is tall and you don't own the proper height ladder, it's best to call and get quotes to clean your gutters bec price could vary or place help wanted inquiry on local www.craigslist.com

    Hope the Above Info Helps!

  4. It is most likely the rain running down the outside of the gutter and beading up on the bottom.
