Why do guys always try to make eyecontact?

i am 16 and i am wondering why random guys i see are always trying to make eyecontact with me. for example.i was out eating with my mom and this waiter tried to hold eyecontact with me as i walked out, but i looked the other way. another example,this boy at my school who i really like but am nervous to talk to is always staring intensely at me whenever i see him, but i ignore the eyecontact. another time i was leaving the beach and going to cross the street,this boy who was in a passenger seat of a car stared intently at me. it seems alot of the boys i see in public are trying to hold eyecontact with me but i'm shy so i ignore it most of the time. is this normal for the boys to be doing this stuff? and what do i do if i like the boy? look back at him? but im too shy to do that. what do i do?

They can see what kind of young lady you are by looking into your eyes and holding contact.

I'm shy too so I know how you feel. You HAVE to overcome this. You are never going to make it in a relationship if you don't.

They're looking at you because they like you.  In my view, prolonged eye contact is rude, but I'm guessing everybody who's done that to you is young (teens).

As for the boy you like, just glance at him, and say, "hi".

take it as a compliment..they obviously think ure pretty. if u like this boy make eyecontact back hes lookin at u so u know hes interested. whats the point of being shy. get used to gettin looks..at lst theyre not 45 lookin at u like do me

I think you know why they are doing it.  Guys are not always reserved in the way they look at woman.  They will stare intently and think nothing of it.  I use to get that all the time and it made me uneasy so I didn't give them a second look.  If someone is interested in you, they should come up and talk to you.  It's tacky to stare.

Hahah... yes it is normal for guys to stare intently on someone they seem interested in, most of the time to try and get the girl to look at them back. I also do that alot and when i put it to the test.. For instance a girl i want to stare at walks toward me and i look away, when shes next to me i look and there she is staring at me.... It's a normal thing...

And if you like that boy well if it seems okay with you go ahead and look back at him, you might be surprised, he might look away nervously or smile maybe..... when you think he's staring at you... look at him and give him a normal stare, look at his reaction....
