Why do guys only wanna be my friend?

I'm really shy and quiet and the only people who will attempt to get me to talk to them and be friends are guys, girls don't. And after a while the guy ends up telling me that he "likes me as more than just a friend" and then I get uncomfortable and stop talking to them... why is this?

Guys want to be your friend because you have a personality that is attractive to them.

Because you are a little too shy, you probably don't want to be involved with them.
