I live in norfolk, England and nearly every night I get helicopters flying low over my house. There are usually 4 - 5, 1 every couple of minutes. I dont live near an air base or airport either.

Anyone else get thisor know why?

  1. They're probably police helicopters...looking for joyriders etc.

  2. they will be police helicopters looking for trouble makers or they could be working for the tv or radio looking for accidents on the roads so the public will know where to avoid when travelling

  3. if you have a large regional hospital in the area they may be medical lifeflite helicopters,

  4. I occasionaly get military chinooks landing and taking off nearby at night.  They need a certain amount of night experience because that will often be the safest time to operate during a conflict.

  5. some places they will only fly maneuvers over lightly populated area at unpopular times incase of an accident.  this keeps down the casualties if there is an accident.

  6. Do you live near a hospital? If so, then that could be the helicopters transporting people to the hospital.

  7. Maybe its a hospital helicopter going to the accidents that happened when the police helicopters were watching joy riders in stolen cars that were trying to outrun the hospital helicopters that they thought were police helicopters.

  8. They will be Chinooks taking oil rig workers out to the rigs in the Southern North Sea.

  9. Do you live near a medical center (excuse me, CENTRE!)? I do, and helicopters often fly over or close to our house, transporting patients to bigger hospitals in Boston (Mass.).

They could be news helicopters, or the British equivalent of Army Rangers (special forces) out on practice drops. My cousin is a Ranger and they don't always train close to their bases.

Or maybe it's cops, trying to scope out a drug ring?? Who knows?!

  10. They're probably police helicopters helping you to sleep, and feel safe in your bed, due to you living in a high crime area...relax...

  11. If its not Police then it's possibly RAF night training??

We have Hel's training here all day long, but at certain times of the year we get Fighter jets training through our valley.

  12. They are watching you..... hehehe

  13. Perhaps you live in the far radius of an air base. Norfolk, England?? Hold On, I'll edit.

Here is when, where and why there are helicopters flying over your house late at night....
