i am also including india, pakistan and bangladesh, since along with the rest of the middle east, i have mistakened them as hispanic, or vice-versa. plus many other people have. I am aware that the indigenous people of the americas are of asian descent, from millions of years ago, and hispanics are mostly european, and american indian blood, and mideasterns are mostly caucasian.

  1. The Natives of South and Central America were a mixture of Spanish, Portuguese(Mediterranean) and Inca, Aztec, Maya and other indigenous peoples. Like the Near Easterners, and other Mediterranean cultures, they posess olive to dark complexion. Some of the features are slighly similar as well, such as nose and eye shapes, posture, thick wavy black to dark brown hair, and bone structure. However, they share no DNA as they developed half a world apart.

  2. As a Hispanic i have never been mistaken as Eastern Indian, Pakistani or of Bangladesh descent. I am 1/4 American Indian and 3/4 Mexican. i was born and raised in the US. I have been asked if i was Filipino or Chinese. 3/4 of the world is Brown, but it doesn't mean that they are Mexican. If you don't know what descent they are just ask, and if they get offended then they are just as prejudice as any white person.

  3. since when do hispanics look middle eastern? india, pakistan, etc. is not the middle east, but asia and even there, there are significant morphologlical differences with hispanics. hispanics are not mostly european, though it does depend on what country and how much europeanization has infiltrated that country and how much native elements exist. middle easterns; although considered caucasian, belong to the hamitic peoples including the berbers.

  4. come on people this is not the 1600's or late 1800's when scienist (europeing )of course searched over and over yet were in denial of race or nationality mixing. white skin was a mark of superiority and dark skin inferiority.that was the law of the land and the way ,required to support slavery, and color differences in privaleges. whites have always mixed with others in secrect because deep down they kno the only difference in us all is where we are from , color, and collective practices once we are grouped.

  5. Skin color is generally a function of latitude (as on the Earth's surface) X amount of time to locally adapt -- (color compensation due to diet and/or material culture)

Translation:  Hispanics, Arabs, Indians, many Pacific Islanders share habitats with high degrees of sun exposure plus some degree of protection from the sun (clothing, trees, etc.) that limit the need for extremely dark skin.  Within the local regions, there is probably some higher degree of genetic relatedness and possibly interbreeding, but populations stable to a region over time are likely to see similar degrees of adaptations based on similar exposures.

  6. Start with the fact that Spain was occupied for 100s of years by Arabs, then move to the fact that the genetic make up of the a large % of the Amerind are more middle eastern than Asian.  Chuckle, Haplotype X appears to have been the 1st Amerind & they exist nowhere else but in Western Europe. This has to anger traditionalists that cling to the Alaskan land  bridge as the only path to the Americas.  Some Native Americans were obviously Asian, others were not.

Chuckle, my son is Latino & you are right, it is hard to tell his features from those of many mid easterners... perhaps impossible.

  7. because most people f/ South America are of Indian descent (maya, aztec, inca, etc)

  8. As a former middle-eastern-looking hispanic, I can honestly say that I have never looked like an indian, bangladeshi or pakistani (since they aren't actually in the middle east). However, I have notied that you like to think about this a lot. As long as you don't mistake them for chinese, that's OK with me.

  9. Combination of ancestry and similar climate can sometimes cause very different people to have a somewhat similar look.

  10. Because their mother lands were conquered by the Arabs before the first crusades. So the local population did interbreed with them, thus leaving most of the Portugal, Spain and Italy population with middle eastern features.

When they land in south America, they also interbreed with the locals thus making their skin even darker...

  11. Both are of mixed Caucasian and Asian ancestry.

Hispanics come from a mixture of Caucasian (Spanish) and Asian (Amerindian) ancestry. Furthermore, the Spanish themselves have imbibed Arab blood, according to genetic studies, as a result of 300 years of Muslim rule in Spain.

Middle Easterners and South Asians (India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh) are not at all pure Caucasians but hybrids between Caucasian (Ancient Caucasians) and Asian (Possibly Ancient Malays).

  12. I don't know, but every hispanic in my school is very nasty and disrespectful, personality wise.  I guess it is just the way they are.
