Why do home grown tomatoes crack on the top when they ripen? It's our first year growing, what are we doing?

  1. If you don't water for a while, then water again, it will cause cracking.


  2. intermitten watering, pick when pink and put in a dark cupboard, they will ripen in 2-3 days

  3. Calcium!        The skin does not have the proper ammounts of calcium to make it strong enough. An organic way would be bone meal...cheap too!

  4. Over watering can cause that, but i dare say there may be other reasons as well
