Why do horse riders wear do Jodhpurs?

Not really for safety - people can and do ride in jeans, breeches, and other types of pants. Using jodhpurs is part fashion, part tradition, and part practicality - jodhpurs create a sleek line that doesn't distract from the horse and stay in place and don't ride up over the top of the boot.
