Why do horses get up front end first and cows back end first?

  1. It all has to do with how an animal deals with trouble.   A Bull will get up hind end first so  that it keeps it's horns low to engage in a fight.   A horse is a panic-a-holic.   At the first sign of trouble,  it leaves.  Thus is gets up front end first so that it can push off with the hind end to run.  Interestingly enough a horse will usually run a couple hundred yards and turn to see if it is safe.  If it isn't,  it will turn and run again..   There is an old saying... never approach a bull from the front,  a horse from the rear,   or a fool from any direction.
