Why do horses never get constipated?

every horse log is identical in shape and texture, hay coloured and in log shapes dont they ever get the runs , or constipation, there are a lot of ho healthy horses around and the fibre works who needs weetabix, just wondered why i have never seen a runny horse jobbie yet in the UK countryside.....ps it is joky but half serious.lol

The answer is bulk. Horses don't eat meat or drink soup just vegetable matter, which in turn forms 'what you call logs' and which are firm. Although they drink lots of water it all goes to lubricate the mass of fibers they consume.

Because their bodies were made to digest fibre - grass etc.  Therefore, because they're eating what their bodies need, and they only eat what they need, their p**p is of a healthy consistancy!  We humans have various p**p because we don't eat what we are supposed to... we eat too much of some things, too little of others, we eat a lot of bad foods and we eat too much.  If you gave a horse icecream, cola and a microwave lasagne, I am sure you would see many runny horse poops!!!

They kinda get the runs cos my horse eats grass in the field all night and I can tell you his poo is NOT hay coloured and in a log shape. I won't go into detail, but you know where I'm going with this don't you?

they do get constipated this is linked to an illness called "collic" which can be caused by a blockage.

They do get diarrhoea  normally if they have had there feed suddenly changed or been put in alot of rich grass.
