What is the deal, if the patient can walk, why they say "It's hospital policy to leave on wheel chair from our hospital"

wouldn't they at least give some encouragement to the patient and tell him that he can walk on his two feet, no, you are too sick to walk on your two feet, now leave our hospital!

  1. No, this policy has nothing to do with how sick you are.  Instead, it is an unfortunate side effect of the hyper-litigious society we live in.

Here is the deal.  You are leaving the hospital.  You fall.  You get hurt.  The hospital gets sued.  Lots of money that should go to patient care gets given to some jacka** lawyer.

So, you leave in a wheelchair.

  2. In case you fall on the way out you can't sue the hospital.

  3. Its just so that the patient does not hurt themselves on hospital grounds so they wont get sued.

  4. LIABILITY, LIABILITY, LIABILITY
