  1. don't know where you live but here in Australia this is not so and the food is generally terrible

  2. In general, when you don't feel well, you feel the worst when you first wake up, at lunch you're still kind of out of it, but come dinner you're ready to eat.  Hospitals cater to the sick, so they understand the mentality.  Also, hospitals tend to follow roman mentality, which means light breakfast, light lunch heavy dinner.  Those two reasons guide the diets of hospitals, that and salt content.

  3. are u talking about for patients or for visitors?

as far as patients go-per dietary regulations-there are so many calories a person should have each day as well as a balance from all the food groups. Your tray must meet these standards (so this is why you are given so much). If you are on a restricted diet (clear liquids only, diabetic, reduced calorie, etc) then your tray won't have quite as much on it. Some patients who require extra nutrition are sometimes given protein shakes or even an extra tray.

as for visitors-some people spend most of their time in the hospital staying close to the one they love that has been admitted. it's important to offer people a good variety of food for each meal.

    hope this helps!!

  4. Cause the dining hall is closed after 9 so hospitals can't serve much food and they want to fill patients up so they won't be hungry till the next day.

  5. Because the food stinks so they give you plenty of choices in hopes you'll eat or find something you like
