Why do hot days build up a thunderstorm- and is this true?

  1. As hot and humid air are settled in low, and a cooler air mass aloft,  approaches, this sets the stage for thunderstorms.

    basically, it is the hot air wanting to drift upwards against cool air that wants to fall which sets up rotation which causes a build up of static electricity in the air......

It is possible.On hot days, the surface will be heated more and the air above the surface is also heated by conduction.The heated air rises and if there is sufficient moisture in the air,the rising air expands, cools and condenses into water vapour forming clouds.In this situation,if the lapse rate also happens to be very steep in the atmosphere  (unstable condition)this rising air becomes as a strong convection current and thunder clouds form,resulting in thunder storm.
