  1. to make us look cool :)

  2. Humans are mammals

  3. Because is the result of the evolution of Keratin.

Keratin is a protein found in many animals; including reptiles and fish. In mammals keratin has evolved into fur, nails and teeth.

Not every life on earth has keratin and there are different types of keratin...

To answer your question, if humans needed to survive... their body had keratin to work with so they expelled it as hair to the occasion. Now in the present, hair its not that important anymore...so most of us have less hair than before.... But if there is a huge extinction, and maybe for some reason the bite of lice has some important survival benefit... then the hairy man or female will walk the earth again!

  4. decoration

  5. check out evolution.

If you want to know why we have hair. It's a primal thing. You know hair carries scent. Scent = people hooking up. Sounds lame i know. So if a guy/girl smells good it is that old monkey to man primitive thing coming through.

Thats why humans have hair. I'm keeping this short and light. Some people could go vulgar on this subject.  Most of the insulation is fat/hair on a human. Plus, humans wear clothing that's the main thing. Thank the heavens for clothes.

  6. well in the nose its for protection agaist dust and inside your body as well

your head it warms your body and your armpits to cool down your body

  7. Okay, this might gross you out. Humans have armpit and pubic hair to muffle our pheromones! Pheromones are chemicals we give off to attract mates but only the opposite s*x can sense them. Sometimes, we give off a lot of pheromones, and therefore the hair muffles the "scent". Though, they don't have much of a smell. Its like when a cat rubs up against things or a dog "marks it's territory". They're giving off pheromones.

  8. To help prevent sunburn on our heads?

  9. because we're mammals. that's just how we were made

  10. basicly protection from heat, dirt and etc

  11. Nose hairs keep dirt out along with eye brows and lashes. Also in cooler climates we loose a great deal of body heat from our heads because of the huge supply needed by the brain.

  12. Hair on the head also prevented sunburn -- also insulation.

  13. Why not?

  14. Dead cells, they have to go somewhere.

  15. Answering “why” is  difficult. I can tell you some things that will help you think about our hair.Maybe the first idea is that humans belong to a class of animals called the mammals. We say that because humans and all other mammals have two features in common: mammary glands and hair. It is true that some mammals, like the rhinoceros and the hipopotamus and the whales, do not have much hair—but always a little.Hair makes a good protective covering, and many animals need it to keep warm. Most humans do not have much hair, and we have to wear clothes to keep warm. I have noticed, though, that there are rather large differences between people in how much hair they have and how it is distributed over their bodies.Maybe you were thinking that humans do not really need hair, but I do not believe that is so. I happen to be one of those people who lost most of the hair on my head. Being bald does not hurt my feelings but it certainly is no advantage. There is no cushion up there to protect me when I bump into a tree limb or a cupboard door. And on a cold day it can feel a bit chilly up there. So I believe that having hair is a good idea and I wouldn’t knock it. :) hope thats enough 4 u

  16. Our ancestors had hair all over the body, much like today's chimpanzee. Over the course of evolution, we lost most of the hair.

  17. Because we are part of the class called mammals (mammala). We need hair to create our insulation and without hair we would not be able to live in versatile environments.

  18. i think we have hair in our ears for vibration. sorry im not sure. have you tried typing something like that into a search engine like google.com or ask.com?

  19. Our body hair (arms, legs, back, etc.) *used* to be used as a way to intimidate/scare away other animals (back in the days before evolution). When we were intimidated, would hairs would rise... Kinda like a cat's. However, during evolution, our body hairs aren't as useful to scare anymore.

Pubic hairs can help protect against certain infections, if you're allowed to put that in your assignment.

  20. there dead cells

and they have to go somewhere

    just like the first answer

  21. to look s**y? duh

  22. Besides all the stuff that everyone else has mentioned (from looking cool (!) to "muffling" of pheromones), hairs are sensory devices. They give you a better understanding and "feeling" of your surroundings (like when you try to tickle someone by moving your hand close to their skin without actually touching them).

The hairs in your ear (inside the cochlea) help with maintaining your balance.

Hairs inside your respiratory tract (from your nose all the way down to your lungs) help remove any unwanted particles from your respiratory system.

  23. Start with the head.

    1. Hair cushions any shocks from blows, falling etc.

Pubic hair (could) serve more than one function.

1A. To reduce friction while mating. (no doubt)

1B. To retain pheremones to attract or arouse partners.

Nostril, ear and eyelash hair are obvious, to capture or keep dust etc from entering those orafices.

Body hair??? Who knows. Back in the ice ages, perhaps it kept them warm. I know two friends that are hairer than gorillas (but bald) but they are exceptions to the moden day rule.

    Good luck on the assignment.
