Why do humans still destroy themselves?

In this day and age, mankind has concored the entire world. we as a species control nature to a large degree. We have created democratic ways to make desicions, we can solve complicated problems with words and logic. Yet still we as a species still feel the need to kill each other. Our culture, for most of the world tell us to be respectful of others ways of living. I understand the need to kill animals, to protect crops and herds, but that animal should be eaten or used to its full potential like it was part of a herd.

With the power that the human race has over nature and its own destiny why is there so much death.

We have probably always been that way.  It might have even sped evolution and allowed us to build greater civilizations.  We aren't destroying ourselves by warfare.  We are reallocating resources from a weaker group to a stronger group.  Hopefully we will gain wisdom by understanding these fundamental truths that will allow us to build a system where people are protected from their more aggressive neighbors. I don't see it happening in my lifetime, at least not completely.

we dont know what else to do.  sad.  we are all insecure, we hold the desire to bring others down to bring ourselves up.  this is human nature, and cannot be changed.  how will the world end?-they ask.  the answer is simple-we will destroy it.

We do that because we want to be the dominant of more land. There were not much changes in mediavel time and now almost everyone wants to have the power to govern the world . its the same thing than a sister and a brother but in larger.  We wanted more land more powere and we dont take conciouness of nature. Because it's always been far easier to kill than live. Humans are the only species that deliberately preys upon one another. I categorize humans lower than animals. Here's why:

1. Animals don't rape other animals

2. Animals don't molest their young.

3. Animals kill out of self defense and hunger.

4. Animals don't rob one another.

Whoa there Dr Gloom!

The overwhelming number of people in the world, even in teh worst nasty parts, still die of OLD AGE.

Old age is a lot older now than it was 100 years ago, forget a thousand.

Mankind has conquered much of the planet, and like ants, we denude the resources from the areas that are most crowded.

The population of the Earthis about 6.8 Billion and counting.  The global population is expected to peak around 9.2 Billion and then either stabalize or begin to actually decrease in another 30 years or so.

There are many challenges ahead, the most pressing are going to be the proper stewardship of various environmental concerns.  

Humans will continue to thrive until something more clever comes along, although our current societies and social orders will doubtless change.  The USA of 200 years ago is not the USA of today.  The world of two generations from now will change even more, but still be recognizable to us when we are old.

With innovative technology, and adaptability and the will to struggle against those who would cheat the system and world peace, Western society at least will be just fine.

But no one is promised an easy life.

Because love and war are what keeps us constant, balance. It's like Yin and Yang, they hate each other but keep things in balance.

In this day and age the conflict continues, but the balance is starting to weaken and the thirst for wars continues to grow, soon not even the law will be able to fight back.
