  1. Because they both operate in accordance with the law of "Conservation of angular momentum.

    We can see this law in effect in many places in nature, whenever there is mass rotating around an axis. Other examples are a spinning top, water swirling in a toilet bowl and the way a figure skater speeds up when she/he draws arms in while spinning. Even the rotation of our sun and planets around their axis is partially controlled by this law.


  2. Because hurricanes rotate just like galaxies.

  4. Simply because it is a cyclone, and when viewed from space, the shape it creates in the atmosphere is similar to the Milky way.
