Why do i appear off line to people on my friends list?

i appear off line to my friends but im on line and can go into chatt rooms all good

You go to yahoo messenger and then press invisible to everyone!

Could be that your Preferences shows that you wish to appear as invisible.  To check this, on your Messenger, top left, click on the Messenger tab, click on Preferences, then click on the Privacy tab.  In the box that opens up, there should be an option on whether to sign in as invisible or not (near or at the top).  If it shows a check mark, then just click on the white box and take the check mark out.

Also, if you wish, on your Messenger, if you run your mouse near the top, over your nickname/name and status, and right click it, you can select Available that way for a temporary fix while on messenger.

If this isn't your problem, then possibly a glitch.  I have also run into the problem where a friend with the newest version doesn't see me online as I'm still using an older one, but hopefully the above will fix it for you.
